The UNODC World Drug Report is an annual publication that provides an overview of the world's drug situation in terms of illicit cultivation, production, trafficking, and abuse with the latest data available.  It is launched annually on 26 June to mark World Drug Day – the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

This 2013 World Drug Report gives an overview of recent global trends, highlighting:
    · Recent statistics and trend analysis of illicit drug markets, both globally and for Southeast Asia and the Pacific
    · Higher reported levels of amphetamine-type stimulants (ATS) use in Southeast Asia and of ATS and opiates in China
    · New drug trafficking routes, with Afghan heroin competing with locally produced opioids in Southeast Asia
    · Higher levels of cocaine seizures in Oceania
    · The challenges posed by growing maritime trafficking of illicit drugs
    · New psychoactive substances (NPS) – unregulated substances including synthetic and plant-based psychoactive substances that are designed to remain outside the international drug control system – emerging as a major public health concern
